i wouldn’t say marquis sucked. he was shaky early, but he did manage to hold it together. the quietness of our bats was a bit disturbing (three long balls and basically no baserunners makes us look like the reds will look later this season), but in the ninth, it was minute maid park that beat us, not the astros.

and, for the record, i think speiz’s ‘patch looks like he’s swallowing a cardinal tail-first. it’s pretty awful, but every man has a right to awful facial hair if that’s his preference.
